Siemens offers flexible protection of industrial plants supported by Palo Alto Networks
Siemens announces its adoption of Palo Alto Networks® next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) to enhance the protection of industrial organizations in manufacturing and process industries against cyberattacks.
The Palo Alto Networks NGFW aims to put in place a high level of protection to secure the increasingly complex interfaces between office and automation networks, as customers continuously seek to benefit from the advantages of digitalization.
The NGFWs allow Siemens customers to select from a variety of security levels and adjust them in-line with their own specific needs. The additional firewall will complement Siemens” Scalance S Industrial Security Appliances which protect devices and network segments.
Organizations in the industrial space face increasingly complex and sophisticated threats, compounded by significant growth in digitalization. They need to be able to innovate outdated network designs and secure industrial environments to provide complete visibility, deliver sustainable security in production processes and enable continued growth.
Due to the different network structures and applications involved, the demands for security can vary considerably from one industry to the next. As part of its Industrial Security Services, Siemens offers an immediate answer in the form of Palo Alto Networks NGFWs. Palo Alto Networks technology helps to reduce the attack surface and the risk of accidental cyber incidents by creating network segments and enforcing role-based access controls, with the least privilege for a user or process, as described in the IEC 62443 standard.
Additionally, it enables secure and appropriate access for corporate users, vendors and partners. As advanced threats become relevant to ICS/SCADA, users can also benefit from the NGFWs capability to natively stop both known and unknown threats with advanced security services.
“With OT evolving to more scalable and cost-effective architectures like Industry 4.0, we have seen organizations focus on updating and unifying their cybersecurity architecture for IT and plant infrastructure,” says Terry Ramos, vice president, Business Development, Palo Alto Networks. “Palo Alto Networks is committed to preventing successful cyberattacks within critical infrastructure, and with our next-generation firewalls, Siemens can enhance the protection of industrial organizations.”
Thomas Moser, CEO of Siemens Customer Services, comments, “With this partnership, Siemens further elevates the security of its clients, bringing next-generation cybersecurity into industrial plants. Siemens’ collaboration with Palo Alto Networks highlights continued innovation by securing automation and digitalization for manufacturing and services industries.”
